Our ambition is to be known as the leading technology and service provider for sustainable urban deltas. We are proud that our solutions result in lower consumption of natural resources and contribute to several of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To fulfill our mission and ambition, we are looking for dedicated colleagues.

Your future ecosystem
Between Rotterdam and The Hague, you find the greenhouse capital of the world: “Het Westland”. A region that has a great contribution to The Netherlands as food exporter number 2 worldwide, right after the US.

In these 100 square kilometers, Priva was founded in the fifties. An innovative second-generation owned family business. Today we are a market-leading company in the Horticultural sector and our ambition is to introduce innovative cloud solutions in accurate greenhouse control, smart (re)use of water, sustainable energy use and efficient labor.

We are proud we emerged from The Netherlands but even prouder that we now operate via 16 international branch offices in over 100 countries worldwide.

Inside Priva we have multiple start-ups who are pioneering in our sector with the financial stability of a healthy and growing mother organization. Phil, which stands for Priva Horticulture Innovations Lab. Phil combines Priva’s 60 years of experience, the world’s largest greenhouse client base and the potential of data-driven services with a science and AI core. Phil is formed by a group of 20 fun-loving, innovative and dedicated business developers and engineers.

Job requirements

How you add value
Our partners and customers face new challenges regarding their greenhouse business. Therefore, Phil turns extraordinary knowledge and valuable data into world-class products. We provide them with the newest technology and tools so that they can use these intelligence services in order to make better decisions and optimize time management, resource management and yield quality, all for a more sustainable world.

In the role of Data Scientist at Phil, you can leave a big footprint on how food is produced around the world. Your work will optimize processes in the greenhouses, from growing plants to planning labor, to using energy and water to forecasting yield and quality. To illustrate, you collect and clean data, transform this raw data into meaningful information and features, model it and use it to make predictions. Also, you compare predictions and real-world situations, for example about plant perspiration, and look for explanations responsible for the potential gap, regarding external factors such as climate or irrigation influence. Moreover, it is important you are able to explain the results in such a way everybody understands, so we can advise regarding the practical implementations.

  • You are able to translate the data and model output to regular and understandable language (for non-scientists);
  • Experience with building and maintaining production solutions based on cloud technology;
  • Write clean code that is accessible for your colleagues (Python, with a bit of SQL and API calling);
