Your future ecosystem
You’ll be part of a new management team in our highly skilled product development department. Together with our CTO, architects, RTEs, and other engineering managers, you play an important role in the efficient execution of work in our Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and in safeguarding the quality of our deliverables. The span of control of this role will be around 5 to 7 multi-disciplinary scrum teams formed by a total of around 35 to 45 specialists.
Between Rotterdam and The Hague, you find the greenhouse capital of the world: “Het Westland”, where our campus is located in De Lier. In these 100 square kilometers, Priva was founded in the fifties and is still a family business.
Priva started as a hardware company and transformed into an innovative software company that grew to become the global market leader in horticulture and building automation. Today we are a high-tech company that develops hardware, software and digital services in the field of climate control, energy-saving and optimal reuse of water. We do this for horticulture, indoor and city farming, as well as utility buildings such as offices, retail, hotels and hospitals.
Our next step is to conquer the digital domain and become a digital service provider, selling subscriptions to "climate as a service".

How you add value
You add value by enhancing, strengthening, and developing our people, evangelizing and supporting our (scaled) agile way of working, and translating the technical vision to your teams.
First of all, you are responsible for the most important asset in our Product Development department, our people. You make sure we have the right people who can realize our ambitious and high-tech vision, by hiring the right talent with the right mindset, knowledge, and competencies that match Priva's culture and mission. With your technical background, you identify skill gaps within your teams and ensure those skills are either developed internally or brought in externally.
Also, provide resources for your teams to successfully execute the vision and roadmap, identify and eliminate impediments, and push continuous improvement. Improve our scaled agile way of working and make sure communication, policies, and other relevant information is shared transparently.
You offer support to colleagues who are ready for the next step and encourage people to work on their growth and guide them in their development. You ensure that people get the right reward for their contribution and in rare cases where employees cannot continue for whatever reason, you will ensure a proper settlement together with HR.
To end, you set up metrics and KPIs where we can make honest and transparent data-driven decisions in order to get a better insight into where we as a product development department can improve.
Job requirements
Who you are
We are looking for an analytical and communicative Engineering Manager with a technical background and the ability to align business and development requests, possibilities, and capabilities. Furthermore, we will read your resume to find:
- Proven track record as a people manager in a similar or strongly connected position;
- Hands-on (technical) experience within an agile working, highly skilled product development organization;
- Fluent in English. Good command of the Dutch language is a strong nice to have;
- History of working with or a strong understanding of the SAFe principles and way of working is a plus;
- Currently living in the Netherlands.
