Job description

Your future ecosystem

The water and sensor teams are merging to enhance synergy, with an opportunity to bring new perspectives and ideas. The team consists of systems and devices experts, including a Product Specialist, Drafter, Chemical Process Engineer, Tech Lead for sensors, and a Product Owner. This diverse team operates autonomously, managing their own portfolios for water and sensor products. The water proposition is a crucial part of our organization which makes this open position an important vacancy to fill.

Between Rotterdam and The Hague, you find the greenhouse capital of the world: “Het Westland”, where our campus is located in De Lier. A region with great economic impact to the Netherlands as the second food exporting country, right after the US. In these 100 square kilometers, Priva was founded in the fifties and is still a family business. We emerged from our knowledge in climate control in glasshouses, but we expanded our knowledge to Building Automation.

We enable horticulture to become predictable & scalable and help to grow a profitable crop almost everywhere. By being the most reliable and innovative process automation business partner and offering leading-edge technology and services, we support our customers to realize their business plans and meet their targets.

Priva started as a hardware company and transformed into an innovative software company that grew to become the global market leader in horticulture. Our next step is to conquer the digital domain and become a digital service provider, selling subscriptions to "climate as a service". We enable horticulture to become predictable and scalable and help to grow a profitable crop almost everywhere.

We are proud to be working with over 600 colleagues, in 16 international branch offices divided over 12 countries together with over 400 international installation partners to deliver our sustainable solutions and services in more than 100 countries.

How you add value

This role is pivotal in achieving team goals and enhancing the functionality and quality of our products. It involves defining functional specifications and technical requirements, ensuring they meet necessary standards, and translating rough ideas from the team into concrete designs, followed by executing tests, and documenting all product related data.

You will be responsible for developing new products and modifying existing ones, specifically designing water and sensor products, improving existing systems, and validating compliance with set requirements. Post-design and construction support is also crucial, including redesigning and maintaining the existing portfolio and addressing support queries, often from international clients.

Additionally, the role requires the approval and validation of technical drawings before production or engineering stages, developing 3D concepts, and ensuring prototype accuracy. Project management skills are essential, as the engineer will independently manage small projects, coordinate with the right stakeholders, maintain self-sufficiency, and collaborate with production, business, and sales teams as well as external stakeholders.
