Senior End to End Test Engineer

  • Hybrid
    • De Lier, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
  • Tech & Data

Job description

Be part of our growth and become our new Senior Test Engineer!

Your future ecosystem

You will be part of one of our three embedded teams in our Product Development Department. The team you will join consists of a Product Owner, Tech Lead, Project Manager and Embedded Developers. Together you will work on abstract protocols and modules with the goal of creating a strong interchangeable software platform for our Building Automation solutions.

Between Rotterdam and The Hague, you find the greenhouse capital of the world: “Het Westland”, where our campus is located in De Lier. In these 100 square kilometers, Priva was founded in the fifties and is still a family business.

Priva started as a hardware company and transformed into an innovative hardware and software company that grew to become the global market leader in horticulture and building automation. Today we are a high-tech company that develops hardware, software, and digital services in the field of climate control, energy-saving, and optimal reuse of water. We do this for horticulture, indoor and city farming, as well as utility buildings such as offices, retail, hotels, and hospitals.

Our next step is to conquer the digital domain and become a digital service provider, selling subscriptions to "climate as a service".

We are proud to be working with over 600 colleagues, in 16 international branch offices divided over 12 countries together with over 400 international installation partners to deliver our sustainable solutions and services in more than 100 countries.

Why this role and you matter

As an End‑to‑End QA Engineer, you ensure our next‑generation Building Automation system delivers what matters most to customers. You help drive and execute a testing approach that focuses on real‑world value, covering a product line that integrates embedded software, hardware interfaces, network communication, and cloud services. Together with the QA Lead, you shape the system‑level QA strategy and introduce QA processes that accelerate delivery without compromising quality. Your work is essential in validating how the entire system performs end‑to‑end in real customer scenarios.

What you’ll do

  • Coordinate with our domain experts and dev teams to identify system-level testing needs, whether it's new functionality or existing coverage gaps

  • Document the information in test plans, considering a risk-based approach

  • Execute on the plan, deciding on what to automate and what not to

  • Keep your stakeholders informed on execution plans and results

  • Build and maintain our end-to-end test suites, covering mission-critical functionality

  • Occasionally, perform field testing on customer' site

  • Collaborate closely with developers and product owners, proactively challenging assumptions to ensure product quality and usability

  • Work closely with the QA Lead and dev team QAs to make sure our QA strategy doesn't leave coverage gaps and that we improve our testing capabilities

Job requirements

What you bring

  • Mastery in creating test plans and prioritizing testing activities. You understand that a test plan is not just a list of test cases

  • Expert level understanding of different approaches to test organization and methodologies (risk-based, Agile Testing Quadrants, BDD, TDD etc.)

  • A strong analytical mind, with attention to details and communication gaps

  • A "Quality from day one" mindset. You understand that quality is not just testing and testing is more than requirements checking

  • Solid test automation skills - ideally, both Playwright and Python (or something similar).

  • Knowledge of network protocols and serial communication

  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments

  • Building Automation domain knowledge is a big plus

  • Proficiency in working in/with Agile teams and processes

  • Fluent English (Dutch is a plus)

Your Team & Tools

You will be part of an End-to-End QA team, which operates alongside our development teams and is lead by our QA Lead. The focus of the team is to ensure our next-gen Building Automation solution performs well in real customer scenarios, through system-level and (when necessary) field testing. Since our system is composed of both embedded and cloud software (think C++, NodeJS, Angular, .NET etc), the existing test stack and tooling include Python, Robot Framework, (serial) protocol-specific tools, Playwright and Jest. Of course, part of your role is to assess what tooling and technology suits the mission best.

What you get
In numbers:

  • A gross salary based on your experience in the range of € 4.500,- and € 6.000,- based on 40 hours a week;

  • We find a healthy work-life balance important: flexible working hours combined with 30 vacation days a year and the option to buy more;

  • A hybrid workplace where we expect to see you a minimum of three days per week in the office;

  • 8% holiday allowance;

  • Travel allowance of € 0,23/km with a daily maximum of 150 kilometers or fully reimbursed public transport costs;

For your own sustainability:

  • Be secured with our pension plan;

  • Feel engaged and join our participation plan;

  • Keep on learning with your personal education possibilities and budget;

  • Be happy and fit by using our healthy cafeteria, our free on-premises fitness where you can participate in CrossFit, Pilates and Spinning classes or play table tennis or table football.
